NPL were subcontracted to design, supply and install steel tubular piles for a new low carbon, Eco-friendly, residential area just outside Edinburgh city Centre. The project would see over 120 new energy efficient homes, made up of 1, 2 and 3 bedroom apartments.
Concerns were raised about the levels of vibration that would occur due to our piling method in the surrounding area prior to works commencing. Two vibration monitors were set up on site boundary to monitor and record levels, we set strict limits on our monitors assuring that were preventing any structural damage to any surrounding residential buildings.
The piling works were completed in 3 weeks, a week ahead of the program. During this 4 static tests were carried out and completed within the program of works.
